What are fancy colored diamonds?

Fancy colored diamonds are diamonds that have noticeable depth of body color. These types of diamonds come in shades of green, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and pink.

According to the GIA, fancy diamonds also have their own grading system. Fancy Vivid is the highest color grade, followed by Fancy Intense, Fancy Deep, Fancy and Fancy Dark.

When purchasing a colored diamond it's important to get a report from a gem lab stating that the color is natural and untreated. Nowadays, treated diamonds are harder to detect.
